Śnieżka, the highest peak of the Sudetes, reigning above the Karkonosze Mountains, gains a special charm in winter. Covered in white snow, it looks like something out of a fairy tale, and hiking to it is a true adventure for mountain lovers. The most popular trail leads through the "Dom Śląski" shelter, from where one can reach the summit via the well-prepared Jubilee Road.
In winter, it is advisable to equip oneself with crampons, trekking poles, and warm clothing, as conditions on the mountain can be extreme – temperatures can drop to -20°C, and winds can reach astonishing speeds. However, the view from the top compensates for all the hardships – the panorama of the entire Jelenia Góra Valley and the Czech side of the Karkonosze can be seen from here. For less experienced tourists, an alternative is a walk to the Dom Śląski and admiring Śnieżka from a safe distance.
